Junior Board of Studies
High School Program & Academy
Max Stolk began his first study of Islam & Arabic back in 2011 and is currently finishing his second study, i.e. Political Science. He showed motivation and determination throughout the years, not only participating in the interdisciplinary track of Honours and being involved in bettering his studies, he is now starting his second board year with United Netherlands! He participated in our Delegation and won multiple awards, the zenith being “Best Delegate” in Harvard. Last year Max was part of the Junior Board of Studies member, this year he will be President. This means that he is responsible for external relations, the functioning of the team, and the programs. He will rely on his experience from Oxford and Harvard, blending it with knowledge already present at the organization.
Vice-President & Secretary
Viola Treffers started her United Netherlands career a couple of years ago when she participated in the Public Speaking Program. After this program she was determined to get into the ‘Delegation’, which she did. Being a delegate in the 2015-16 delegation she participated in Oxford and Harvard Model United Nations. Next to being an active member of United Netherlands, she studies Psychology at Leiden University. This year Viola will represent United Netherlands as the Vice-President, Secretary and Communications Officer where she will focus on promotion for United Netherlands and working behind the scenes to let our programs run smoothly.
Ivy Lin is the treasurer of United Netherlands this year. She is a business economics student at Erasmus School of Economics. Originally, she is from North-western China, but she lived in Singapore for two years before moving to the Netherlands. Ivy got to know United Netherlands by participating in European International Model United Nations. She enjoys to work in an international atmosphere and directly see how much joy the work brings to others. Therefore, she decided to apply and work for the United Netherlands.
Junior Board of Studies
Nina Krijnen is an International Relations master’s student at the University of Amsterdam. When she was in high school, she already got in touch with United Netherlands through the High School Program and participated in 2010 and 2011. During her bachelor’s degree in International Business Communication at Radboud University she focused on international relations and studied foreign languages and history in Paris. Last year after graduating from United Netherlands’ Delegation, she trained the High School Program and the Public Speaking Program. This year, Nina will be a member of the Junior Board of Studies as Head Delegate of the 14th Delegation.
Model United Nations Trainer
André Harris is originally from Australia, but has lived most of his life in Ukraine and the Netherlands. He recently graduated from International Studies at Leiden University in The Hague, and is now a master’s student in Conflict, Power and Politics at the Radboud University. He was a United Netherlands delegate in 2015-16, firstly representing Russia in the Security Council in Oxford, and then Health Minister Shah Wali in the 1979 Afghan Cabinet crisis committee in Harvard, where he won an Honourable Mention award. This year he will focus on chairing and training the delegation’s MUN sessions every Friday, getting the delegates ready to compete at the highest level in the UK and the US.
Swasti Sudan was born in India and has attended school in various parts of the world including; India, Canada and the Netherlands. She graduated her Bachelor as a South Asia specialist having studied South and Southeast Asia, and is doing her Masters in International Relations specialising in Global Conflict. Her interest in constantly challenging and developing herself led her to come in contact with the Public Speaking Program, she has been part of the UNL family ever since and will now be a part of shaping the 2016-2017 Delegation as Head Delegate. She is looking forward to taking her experiences from Oxford and Harvard and guiding this years Delegation towards an unforgettable experience.
Director General of the Academy
Hasna Jabri is a very ambitious, multilingual and result-driven Law student in Amsterdam. She was part of the 2015-2016 Delegation and represented India in the UN Women Committee at the Harvard National Model United Nations Conference. After successfully graduating from the delegation, she trained the Public Speaking Program, conducted multiple workshops and external trainings. This year, Hasna will represent the function of Director General of the Academy. As the Director General of the Academy, she will be in charge of the workshops and external trainings which United Netherlands provides. With her exceptional international experiences, she is the perfect person to embody the spirit of United Netherlands.
High School Program
Director General of the High School Program
Quirine is currently finishing her bachelor’s study at the honors track: the Utrecht Law College, and intends to specialize in International Law. She is an ambitious student with wide interests, varying from politics to environmental issues. Accordingly, she has explored these interest by e.g. taking part in the Young and Sustainable working group for the National Youth Council, organizing series of lectures, and writing academic articles for the magazine of the Utrecht faculty of Law. As the Director General of the High School Program, she is in charge of the MUN-training program given to over 200 participating high school students all over the Netherlands. With the help of continually outstanding and enthusiastic trainers from the delegation and previous-delegations, she aspires to make the 2016/2017 edition an even greater success.
