Board Positions United Netherlands offers

 

 

All positions will bring you into contact with alumni and the current students, thus making it possible for you to develop your network, both at home and abroad. Given that all positions are different, providing a wide array of experiences, they are outlined below.

Executive Board

Academy

President

Extra requirement: An applicant for this position needs to have extensive knowledge of the organization.

As President of United Netherlands, you are in charge of internal cooperation and represent the organization to a variety of external actors, as well as to the alumni of United Netherlands. You lead meetings and make sure to create an environment in which cooperation between your board members is optimal. Externally, the main goal is to safeguard the positive and professional image of the organization as well as represent it to the outside world. The overarching theme of the presidents’ task is to keep the long term in mind.

This position is full-time. An individual fulfilling a full-time position receives a compensation of 500 euros per month and is required to be in the office 35 hours a week.

Secretary & Vice-President

Secretary is one of the most versatile positions United Netherlands offers. The secretary is responsible for the design and implementation of the social media strategy for the organization as well as the promotion of the different tracks. Representation of United Netherlands is the secretary’s responsibility together with the president, which means that you build relationships and communication with the public, corporations, and even the press. Working on the positive image of United Netherlands is the goal. Logistics is also a part of the secretary’s portfolio, which includes board coordination.

The Vice President’s main responsibility is supporting the President and thus comes down to safeguarding the external image of United Netherlands and having a good overview of the activities of the organization. You are responsible for representing the organization to the outside world as accurately and professionally as possible.

This position is full-time. An individual fulfilling a full-time position receives a compensation of 500 euros per month and is required to be in the office 35 hours a week.

 

Treasurer

Being Treasurer within United Netherlands will provide you with the opportunity to be responsible for a large budget. The treasurer’s portfolio also involves logistics for a wide array of activities, such as conferences, training programs, and trips abroad.  You also get the opportunity to come in contact with a wide variety of institutions via acquisition and investors.

This position is part-time. An individual fulfilling a part-time position receives a compensation of 250 euros per month and is required to be in the office 17,5 hours a week.

Director General of the Public Speaking Program and Coordinator of Workshops

Very much like in your own training bureau, as Director General of the Academy you will provide trainings for other (student) organizations and organize our large-scale Public Speaking Program twice a year. As such you ensure that the quality of the materials, trainers, and training sessions are top notch, as well as making sure that logistically everything is set to meet the students’ needs. The position of the Director General of the Academy is very autonomous and thus you can really leave your mark on your tasks and programs.

This position can be either full-time or part-time. An individual fulfilling a full-time position receives a compensation of 500 euros per month and is required to be in the office 35 hours a week, while an individual fulfilling a part-time position receives a compensation of 250 euros per month and is required to be in the office 17,5 hours a week.

Director General of the High School Program

As the lead person for the High School Program you will be in charge of your own, small, business. You will be in charge of the programming, organizing and execution of your own training program. A large number of high school students will get their first impression of the United Nations via your program, giving you the opportunity to really change their lives. As the Director General of the High School Program you will have a very autonomous position, creating a position with responsibility, flexibility, and creativity.

This position is part-time. An individual fulfilling a part-time position receives a compensation of 250 euros per month and is required to be in the office 17,5 hours a week.

Junior Board of Studies

The UNMD is intensive and brings a small group of the brightest minds together to form a tight team of individuals to participate in MUNs in Oxford and Harvard. These young people will experience an intensive track of individual growth, spending every Friday with motivated peers who push each other to improve on their previous selves and exceed all expectations. The power of the UNMD lies in the forming of a group that is almost autodidactic but led by a strong Junior Board of Studies.

Head Delegate

Extra requirement: An applicant for this position needs to have taken part in the United Netherlands Delegation.

United Netherlands hires two Head Delegates per year.

Head Delegates, together with the Model United Nations Trainer, are responsible for the approximately 30 students United Netherlands trains for half a year in the theory and practice of multilateral diplomacy in various ways. As such they design and implement the course, set up training sessions, and grade and support the students. Head Delegates will be able to get a taste of being a teacher, relaying their experiences, and truly have an impact on the students’ lives and futures.

Head Delegates are mainly responsible for preparing and teaching the interpersonal skills trainings in public speaking, negotiation, and lobbying.

This position can be either full-time or part-time. An individual fulfilling a full-time position receives a compensation of 500 euros per month and is required to be in the office 35 hours a week, while an individual fulfilling a part-time position receives a compensation of 250 euros per month and is required to be in the office 17,5 hours a week.

Model United Nations Trainer

Extra requirement: An applicant for this position needs to have taken part in the United Netherlands Delegation.

The Model United Nations Trainer (MUN-T), together with the Head Delegates, is responsible for the approximately 30 students United Netherlands trains for half a year in the theory and practice of multilateral diplomacy in various ways. As such, they design and implement the course, set up training sessions, and grade and support the students. The MUN-T will be able to get a taste of being a teacher, relaying their experiences, and truly have an impact on the students’ lives and futures.

The Model United Nations Trainer is mainly responsible for teaching MUN rules and strategy, writing study guides, and chairing MUN sessions during Friday sessions.

This position can be either full-time or part-time. An individual fulfilling a full-time position receives a compensation of 500 euros per month and is required to be in the office 35 hours a week, while an individual fulfilling a part-time position receives a compensation of 250 euros per month and is required to be in the office 17,5 hours a week.
