Are you ambitious, motivated and interested in global affairs? Do you want to participate in Model United Nations conferences at the prestigious universities of Oxford and Harvard? Do you want to develop your professional and personal skills to exceed any expectations? Then apply for our Delegation!
Each year we select around 30 highly motivated, talented and ambitious students from all over the Netherlands with a wide variety of academic backgrounds to take part in the course "United Nations and Multilateral Diplomacy: Theory and Practice". For six months, these students are trained in debating, speaking in public and negotiation. Perhaps most important is the ambitious environment the delegation creates. Delegates challenge each other to make the most of their potential and inspire each other to expand their world view and become true global citizens.
At the end of the course, the delegation participates in the Harvard National Model United Nations (HNMUN) conference, the oldest MUN conference in the world. United Netherlands has been winning awards at this conference for nine straight years, ranking among the best delegations in the world!
Don't hesitate to apply! The course is open to all students from all academic backgrounds. We are looking for ambition, diversity and a touch of idealism. Plus, applicants are often surprised by their own performance.
The application deadline for the 2013-2014 Summer Selection for the delegation is May 17th, 2013.

As the apex of the delegation track, HNMUN 2013 proved to be a success for United Netherlands! Bringing home a total of eight awards, the tenth delegation was once again among the very best delegations participating in the prestigious conference at Harvard University.
The delegation proved to be able to thrive and excel in the highly competitive environment of the HNMUN conference. HNMUN traditionally hosts the best delegations from all over the world and is known as one of the most competitive MUN conferences in the world. United Netherlands is traditionally one of the most prominent delegations at HNMUN, being described as a "Model UN powerhouse". (source: BestDelegate.com)

After the unprecedented success at OxIMUN 2012, where the delegation managed to obtain a total of 9 awards, we are now looking forward to the road ahead (see BestDelegate for a more thorough impression). With just 95 days to go until the opening ceremony of HNMUN in the historic Park Plaza Hotel in Boston, our delegates have already started their preparations for the conference.
In light of this, we are pleased to announce the country United Netherlands will be representing this year: The Russian Federation! From the ice cold wastes of Siberia to the bustling metropole of Moscow, Russia is a country of controversy, diversity, and some would argue, hegemony. Being thoroughly represented in the international community, we are convinced our delegation can make a lasting impression on the many committees in Harvard as Russia.
We wish the best of luck to our delegates in their preparations and will update this site regularly with their progress.
Do you want to learn what it takes to convince an audience?
Are you a motivated student striving to develop your skills as a public speaker?
Are you interested in the United Nations, its ideals, practices and shortcomings?
Then apply for the United Netherlands Public Speaking Program!
Taking part in the United Netherlands Public Speaking Program means participating in five extensive training sessions where we will practice and train several skills that are essential to becoming an effective public speaker. We will focus on the aesthetic aspects of public speaking, as well as the structural elements that make up a speech. We will present you with tools to create speeches for different settings, and will ask you to put these tools to use when you speak in public during the different training sessions. At the end of the program, you will take part in our United Netherlands public speaking contest in Nijmegen, where you will get the chance to put everything you have learned to the test.
Your trainings will be set in the context of Model United Nations simulations, where you practice your public speaking skills while discussing global issues. You will be taught by students that have developed these skills in the internationally awarded United Netherlands delegation to Oxford and Harvard University Model United Nations conferences.
