Selection Procedure We seek a team of thirty to thirty-four highly motivated and diverse students. As the number of applicants for the United Netherlands delegation usually exceeds the number of places, we have a selection procedure. This also allows us to guarantee that you will be part of a group of motivated and bright students. United Netherlands has two selection procedures. The regular selection procedure will take place during the summer and consists out of three rounds, which will be explained below. Furthermore, we have a Fall Selection for students who are for a valid reason not able to participate in the Summer Selection, for instance if they are abroad. For more information, please see How to Apply. |

Summer Selection
The first round consists of locally organized Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) simulations in Nijmegen, Utrecht, Maastricht, Delft and Amsterdam. It serves as an initial test of your potential as United Netherlands delegate. If you pass the first round, you are invited to come to Nijmegen and participate in a simulation of the Security Council, during which a selection committee will be present. This second round is intended to see how strong your strategic, verbal, and social skills are. Finally, you will be invited for an interview, where we will assess your personal suitability for the program. If you pass this round, you will be part of the United Netherlands delegation 2010-2011! Before the summer, we will organize an information meeting for the new delegates so that you can meet each other and we have the opportunity to inform you about the further proceedings. If you are not accepted after the second or third round, we will take care of providing you with a short feedback on your application and we will give you the opportunity to contact us for a short clarification. In other words, if you make the effort to come to a simulation (and an interview), we will make sure you do not go home empty-handed. Furthermore, some people who did not make it one year, have the chance of being selected the next time around; this means that you are always welcome to participate in the next selection. The selection procedure is competitive but fair. Hence, we encourage all motivated students to apply and attend one of our ECOSOC simulations: often applicants are surprised by their own performance. The simulations at the selection days are an interesting experience in itself and they can give you an impression of what it is like to participate in MUN simulations and in the United Netherlands delegation. If you have any questions, please send an email to: admission@unitednetherlands.org or call: +31 24 361 11 37. |

Fall Selection For those unable to participate in the Summer Selection, United Netherlands has the Fall Selection in September 2010. For more information on application, dates keep an eye on the website. The Fall Selection procedure is organized in one round, which is open to all students attending a Dutch University and were unable to attend the Summer Selection. As in the summer selection, you will be asked to send in a written application. Since the Fall Selection only covers one day, a preliminary selection will be made from the written applications. The Fall Selection will take place in Nijmegen. For the first part of the round, you will be interviewed, where we will assess your personal suitability for the program. The second part of the round consists of a simulation of the Security Council. It serves as an initial test of your potential as a United Netherlands delegate and to see how strong your strategic, verbal, and social skills are. If you pass this round, you will be part of the United Netherlands Delegation 2010-2011! If you are not accepted, we will take care of providing you with a short feedback on your application and we will give you the opportunity to contact us for a short clarification. In other words, if you make the effort to come to the selection day, we make sure you do not go home empty-handed. Furthermore, some people who did not make it one year have had the chance being selected the next time around; you are always welcome to participate in the next selection. |
