RiMUN 2010: Succesfully concluded. The Radboud international Model United Nations 2010 has succesfully concluded! After a long weekend of fierce, fruitful debate and exciting social events, the sixth edition of RiMUN came to end. We would like to thank all delegates, volunteers, and partners again for making this all possible. RiMUN 2010: April 8-11, 2010 MUN conference by United Netherlands Dear future delegates,
About RiMUN RiMUN is United Netherlands' own yearly Model United Nations conference. The first edition was organized in December 2005 in Nijmegen and was called Radboud intrauniversity Model United Nations. 26 different countries were represented in a highly successful conference that was themed Freedom vs Liberty - in an international perspective. In April 2006 the second edition took place in Nijmegen. This time called Radboud international Model United Nations, participation was open for students from all Dutch universities and abroad. This edition was centered around the theme of the Millennium Development Goals. With interesting debate, speakers Mandeep Bains (policy advisor UN Millennium Campaign), Ruud Lubbers and Dries van Agt (former Dutch prime ministers), this conference was a tremendous success as well. From November 24th to November 26th 2006, the next RiMUN took place. This time the theme was War on War - Peace and Security in the 21st century. Speakers were, among others, Dr. P. H. Kooijmans, Ms. mr. C. F. Meindersma & Prof. dr. M. van Rossem. RiMUN 2007 was centered around the theme Fight 4 Freedoms: Roosevelt's 1941 State of the Union revisited. Delegates re-enacted the League of Nations, discussed the limits to freedom of religion in a symposium and debated about female circumcision. With almost 250 participants of which 30 different nationalities and coming from 24 different universities, the fifth edition of RiMUN (2008) was a grand success. The theme United inDifference provided for fruitful debates about, amongst others, the Arctic Ocean and the role of climate change in civil conflict. At RimUN 2008, United Netherlands was honored to host former Dutch Minister of Development Cooperation and Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to Sudan, J.P Pronk as well as the Mayor of Nijmegen, Mr. Th.C. de Graaf. |
